The present invention relates to a composition containing a white atractylis extract as an effective component for promoting the differentiation and development of muscle. According to the present invention, as the white atractylis extract increases the expression of MyoD, which is a myogenic regulatory factor (MRF), and promotes the generation of a myosin heavy chain (MHC), which is muscle structure protein, an effect for the promotion of muscle differentiation is confirmed, and thus, the composition for the differentiation and development of muscle is able to be used as healthy functional food.본 발명은 백출 추출물을 유효성분으로 함유하는 근육의 분화 및 발달 촉진용 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 백출 추출물은, 근육 분화 조절인자(myogenic regulatory factors, MRF)인 MyoD의 발현을 증가시키고, 근육 구조 단백질인 마이오신중쇄(myosin heavy chain, MHC)의 생성을 촉진함으로써, 근육 분화를 촉진하는 효과가 확인된 바, 근육의 발달 및 분화를 목적으로 사용되는 조성물 및 근육 발달 및 분화용 건강기능식품으로 사용될 수 있다.
