An accommodating intraocular lens implant (210, 510, 610) includes an anterior floating lens unit (218, 518, 618), a posterior lens unit (222, 522, 622), an anterior rim complex (225, 525, 625) disposed such that the anterior floating lens unit (218, 518, 618) is movable toward and away from the anterior rim complex (225, 525, 625). A plurality of levers (250, 550, 650) are in jointed connection with: the anterior floating lens unit (218, 518, 618) at respective first longitudinal sites (252, 552, 652) along the levers (250, 550, 650), the anterior rim complex (225, 525, 625) at respective second longitudinal sites (254, 554, 654) along the levers (250, 550, 650), and the posterior lens unit (222, 522, 622) at respective third longitudinal sites (256, 556, 656) along the levers. For each of the levers (250, 550, 650), (a) a line (300, 700) defined by the second (254, 554, 654) and third longitudinal sites (256, 556, 656), if projected onto a plane (302, 702) defined by a radially-outer perimeter (304, 704) of the lens implant (210, 510, 610), and (b) a line (306, 706) tangential to the radially-outer perimeter (304, 704) of the lens implant (210, 510, 610) at a circumferential site (308, 708) of the perimeter (304, 704) circumferentially corresponding to the third longitudinal site (256, 556, 656), form an angle (α) of between 75 and 105 degrees.
