PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of suppressing proliferation of Clostridium difficile, and achieving alleviation of symptoms due to the suppression of proliferation, and furthermore suppression or prevention of infectious disease due to the suppression of proliferation simply and highly effectively.SOLUTION: There are provided a Clostridium difficile proliferation inhibitor having a propionic acid bacterium and/or a fermentation product thereof as active ingredients, and a prebiotic composition having Clostridium difficile proliferation inhibitory action.
