A cartridge for dispensing bone cement is disclosed, said cartridge including: a cylinder having proximal and distal opposed ends with a mixing chamber space between the ends, in which bone cement is disposed, a piston, said piston being disposed in the cylinder mixing chamber adjacent the distal end of the cylinder, said piston being slidably mounted in the cylinder void space so as to move towards the proximal end of said cylinder so as to push bone cement out through said proximal end of the cylinder, a cap disposed over the proximal end of the cylinder, the cap having an orifice through which cement is discharged from the cylinder, and a nozzle that is removably attached to the cap to receive cement discharged through the cap orifice. The cap is formed with an outer surface and a nipple extends outwardly from the outer surface, said nipple formed to have: the cap orifice through which cement is discharged, a plurality of tabs that extend radially outwardly from said nipple, and a stop that extends from one of said tabs. The nozzle has a hollow shaft dimensioned to seat in the cap orifice, wherein, when said shaft is seated in the cap orifice, said nozzle, including said shaft, is able to rotate. The nozzle further has a skirt and a plurality of detent members, said detent members being positioned so that, when said nozzle shaft is seated in the cap orifice and said nozzle is rotated, said detent members engage the cap tabs, and said detent members being further positioned relative to said nozzle stop so that, after said nozzle is rotated so as to cause the engagement of said detent members with said nozzle tabs, the further rotation of said nozzle is inhibited by the stop abutting one of said detent members.
