PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope insertion assisting device in which a driving force for inserting or retracting an insertion part to or from a body cavity can be easily obtained even when a large gap is formed between an inner wall of the body cavity and the insertion part.SOLUTION: An endoscope insertion assisting device comprises: base members 30, 45 provided in an insertion part of an endoscope in a fixable or fixed state a belt support part 52 provided in the base members a plurality of belt support shafts 43 which are provided in the base members at different circumferential positions around a shaft line L of the insertion part, are located on the outer peripheral side of the belt support part, and extend in a tangential direction of the circumference a plurality of annular belts 41 which are wound around each belt support shaft one by one in a state in which a part of each annular belt is held between the belt support shaft and the belt support part, and are exposed to the outer peripheral side of the insertion part and drive means 24, 25, 52 for rotating the annular belts around the corresponding belt support shafts.
