Las etapas principales del procedimiento son el cultivo de los microorganismos, la inmovilización de células, nutrientes y otras sustancias en dicho soporte y una única etapa de secado en lecho fluidizado que permite utilizar temperaturas inferiores y conseguir grados de humedad más bajos, lo cual redunda en una mayor estabilidad del fertilizante. Éste ejerce su acción tanpronto como éste contacta con la planta.
