A fixation assembly and associated methods for making and using the assembly. The assembly (100) includes a hub assembly (102) having a needle hub (104) secured to a needle (108) and a stylet hub (106) secured to a stylet (114) extending through a lumen (105) of the needle. The stylet hub is selectively actuatable relative to the needle hub between a first position and a second position. A stop (110) is removably coupled to the hub assembly when the stylet hub is in the first position to prevent actuation of the stylet hub to the second position.
