The present invention relates to the use of specific aminated organopolysilioxane compounds for protecting keratin fibers form damaging effects of UV rays and sun light and also reducing the color wash-out from artificially colored hair. The object of the present invention is the use of a composition comprising at least one aminated organopolysiloxane compound according to general structurewherein m and n each are numbers from 20 to 10,000, in particular 50 to 7,000, especially 100 to 5,000, x is a number between 1 and 5, preferably 3, and y is a number from 5 to 30, R1 is a C1-C12-alkyl or aryl group, in particular a methyl, ethyl or benzyl group, and Y- is an anion, for protecting hair from UV rays and sunlight and for reducing color wash out from artificially colored hair.
