Compositions containing a boron carbohydrate complex having a ratio of an improved dibasic complex to a boric acid are presented. In some embodiments, the compositions are characterized by a liquid form with a ratio of e-complex to boric acid of at least 5: 1 and more typically at least 10: 1, and a dry form of 20: 1. In other embodiments, the compositions are characterized in that the minimum content of the e-composites is 80 wt% and the boric acid content is less than 15 wt%, and more typically less than 5 wt%.
