A planting device 100 for planting juvenile plants is provided comprising a wheeled chassis 30, an articulated boom assembly 31 and a planting head 10 coupled to the articulated boom assembly 31 in an actuator-controlled manner. The planting device 100 further comprises a sliding arrangement 35 mounted onto the longitudinal sides L1, L2 of the chassis 30 and configured to propel the articulated boom assembly 31 therealong. The planting head 10 of the planting device 100 is configured to automatically deliver plants into a planting tube, to set said plants into a substrate and to pack the substrate therearound.
