PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging system that can provide an image in which artifact relating to difference in distortion of an image is reduced or removed.SOLUTION: The magnetic resonance imaging system related to the embodiment includes: a sequence control part, a generation part, a modification part and a correction part. The sequence control part performs a sequence containing pre-scanning and main-scanning on a subject. The generation part generates a pre-scan image and a correction map each from data collected by the pre-scanning, and generates a main-scan image from the data collected by the main-scanning. The modification part modifies the correction map so as to have virtually identical distortion to geometric distortion in the main-scan image on the basis of difference in the geometric distortion between the main-scan image and the pre-scan image.
