The present invention relates to the use of a unique anthraquinone glycoside, emodin-8-O-(6’-O-malonyl)-glucoside (tentatively named emoghrelin), isolated from raw Heshouwu (Polygonum multiflorum Thunb.) as a ghrelin receptor agonist. The present invention further provides a composition comprising emoghrelin for stimulating growth hormone secretion, especially for preventing and/or treating aging related diseases caused by the decrease growth hormone secretion.本發明係關於一種純化自生何首烏(Polygonum multiflorum Thunb.)之一種特殊的蒽醌醣苷類(anthraquinone glycoside)化合物,大黃素-8-O-(6’-O-丙二醯基)-葡萄糖苷(命名為emoghrelin)做為飢餓素受體促效劑之應用。本發明亦進一步提供包含大黃素-8-O-(6’-O-丙二醯基)-葡萄糖苷之組合物,用於刺激生長激素分泌,特別是用於預防及/或治療因生長激素分泌降低所引起的老化相關疾病。
