PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical device comprising an optical instrument for medical application and a holding device, and a method for operating the medical device.SOLUTION: A control unit includes a second regulator which outputs a second control signal to actuators 14-15 via means for measuring a kinematic state of a joint and an adjusting element. The control unit is configured to be settable in a first operation state and a second operation state.
