PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical device that has a simple construction and is useful for blood vessel compression.SOLUTION: The invention relates to a medical device and method for applying pressure onto a patient's limb, especially at a blood vessel or a wound site, in order to achieve local hemostasis. The device comprises: a body for compressing the blood vessel； a holding element for attaching the body to a patient's limb； and fastening means 3 for holding the device in a desirable position. The body has: a first compression area 1a situated at the outer surface of the body； at least one second compression area 1b through which the body is pressed with a holding element； and a third compression area 1c for compression control during application of the device.
