The invention relates to a composition for coating flower heads, especially roses, post-harvest to inhibit or prevent infection of the flowers during transport and storage. The invention further relates to a method of inhibiting or preventing infection of cut flowers by applying the composition to the flower heads. The composition comprises a polymer produced from the monomers vinyl acetate and ethylene, and optionally a vinyl ester of a highly branched carboxylic acid, glycerol and water, the composition being in the form of a dispersion. The composition may act as a carrier for slow release of bioactive agents, such as crop protection agents, in particular fungicides.Linvention concerne une composition de revêtement de têtes florales, en particulier des roses, après récolte, visant à inhiber ou à prévenir linfection des fleurs pendant le transport et le stockage. Linvention concerne en outre un procédé dinhibition ou de prévention dune infection de fleurs coupées par application de la composition aux têtes florales. La composition comprend un polymère produit à partir des monomères acétate de vinyle et éthylène, et éventuellement dun ester vinylique dun acide carboxylique hautement ramifié, de glycérol et deau, la composition se trouvant sous forme dune dispersion. La composition peut agir comme un support pour la libération lente dagents biologiquement actifs, comme des agents phytoprotecteurs, en particulier des fongicides.
