A method for treating liquefied hydrocarbons comprising acid gases to remove said the gases while minimizing loss of amine species, the method comprising the step of contacting the liquefied hydrocarbons with an absorbent aqueous solution of a first amine compound, the first amine compound having the structure wherein R1 and R2 may each individually be hydrogen, methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, i-propyl, n-butyl, s-butyl, 2-hydroxyethyl or propane-2,3-diol.
