PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modified base material surface of medical equipment which is so designed as to decrease the danger of thrombosis by improving the adhesion of a biomimetic surfactant to the surface of the medical equipment.SOLUTION: This surface modification is attained by providing a tie layer of a hydrophobic substance between the base material surface and biomimetic coating, or by mixing a hydrophobic additive in a polymer base material before extrusion or molding. Either of these methods forms a hydrophobically modified surface enhancing the bonding strength of the biomimetic surfactant.
