A safety system includes a wearable device having means to determine whether a child has been left in a car seat and further having means to detect the wearable devices global position and the ambient temperature, heart rate, and activity of a person wearing the wearable device. The wearable device can send notice to a smartphone or other designated device when certain specified conditions have been met or exceeded. The information monitored and/or gathered can be stored and retrieved as needed.
