PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a functional food and a drug which can be made available to the prevention or the treatment of obese and diabetes by a fraction component from a food.
SOLUTION: By modifying a fatty acid obtainable from a food and fractionating the modified fatty acid by column chromatography, an intestinal tract hormone secretion modulator is extracted from the modified fatty acid. As the fatty acid, particularly an unsaturated long-chain fatty acid such as &alpha-linolenic acid and DHA or natural fats and oils, for example, a fatty acid fractionated from perilla oil and fish oil is suitable. By fractionation selecting an Rf value range by column chromatography, substances designated as SIHR, EIHR, and IIHR can be obtained. Since these substances have a high intestinal tract hormone secretion modulating (accelerating or inhibiting) function per calorie, even a long-term intake does not cause obesity and the like and is useful for the prevention and the improvement of diabetes and the like.
