PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gel-like composition from which high strength and highly transparent gel is obtained.SOLUTION: The gel-like composition contains following components (A) to (C), and is characterized in that the content of cellulose fibers of the component (A) is 0.3 to 3.0 wt.% based on the total amount of the gel-like composition. The component (A) is cellulose fibers having the maximum fiber diameter of &le1,000 nm and a number-average fiber diameter of 2 to 100 nm, wherein the cellulose has I-type crystal structure, and the hydroxy group at the C6-position of each glucose unit in the cellulose molecule is selectively oxidized into aldehyde group or carboxy group, and the amount of the carboxy groups is within the range of 0.6 to 2.2 mmol/g. The component (B) is polyvinylpyrrolidone.
