PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the use of fluorescent nanoparticles.SOLUTION: Provided is the use of fluorescent nanoparticles for preparing an in vivo diagnostic aid agent. The nanoparticles each comprises: an inorganic core a passivating layer and specific ligands, where the hydrodynamic diameter of the inorganic core with the passivating layer is 15 nm or less, preferably 10 nm or less, particularly preferably 5 nm or less. The nanoparticles emit light with wavelengths less than 700 nm.
