PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a underpants type absorbent article having a slim abdominal side and a back side that fits the shape of the buttocks.SOLUTION: In a planer view, an external sheet 20 in a developed state is a sheet having an almost rectangular shape that is defined by a pair of right and left side edges 23 and 23 corresponding to the front and back direction of an underpants type napkin 1 and a pair of front side edge 24 and a back side edge 25 corresponding to the waist circumferential direction of the underpants type napkin 1. Notch parts 26 and 27 are formed at corners of the sheet where the front and back side edges 24 and 25 cross the right and left side edges 23 respectively. The sheet is folded in the direction of the front and back side edges, and edges of the notch parts 26 formed on the both sides of the front side edge 24 that corresponds to the abdominal side among the front and the back side edges and edges of the notch parts 27 formed on the both sides of the back side edge 25 that corresponds to the back side are joined along the edges to achieve a product state.
