A simulated bait device (10) for use with a fishing line (70) having a block portion (74) includes a luer component (12) having an inner passage (20, 27) through which the block portion can pass. The luer connector (18) connectable to the luer component has a central passage (48) sized to prevent the block portion from passing therethrough. When the connector is connected to the luer part at one end, the fishing line extends through the passage, and the block part is placed in the part of the fishing line that passes from within the opposite end of the luer part, the connector is removed from the luer part. The luer component can be removed from the fishing line by passing the block portion through the luer component. The present invention also extends to a simulated bait assembly, a method of removing a simulated bait device from a fishing line, and a simulated bait kit.
