The invention refers to a system for planning a procedure for contrast imaging. A contrast agent estimation unit 6 estimates an amount of contrast agent, which would be present in tissue represented by a voxel of a planning image, for instance a CT image, during contrast imaging, based on characteristics of the tissue and the contrast agent. An attenuation image generating unit 7 generates an attenuation image based on the planning image and the estimated amount of contrast agent, and a procedure planning unit 8 plans the procedure based on the attenuation image. Thus, the planning of the procedure can be based on the attenuation image showing for each patient an expected image resulting from contrast imaging. Accordingly, the planning of the administration of the contrast agent and/or the imaging settings, can be based on reliable and detailed data such that the planning for an individual patient becomes more effective.
