PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color index value calculation system and a color index value calculation method which assist in cultivation of a plant by calculating, from the color of the plant, a color index value according to a growth state of the plant.SOLUTION: The color index value calculation system comprises: a calculation information generation unit which generates color index value calculation information for calculating, from a color value, a color index value indicating the degree of a change in the color value； a calculation information storage unit which stores the color index value calculation information generated by the calculation information generation unit； a color measurement unit which measures a color value of a predetermined part of a predetermined plant； and a color index value calculation unit which calculates and outputs a color index value on the basis of the color value measured by the color measurement unit and the color index value calculation information stored in the calculation information storage unit.
