A mobile, vehicular health unit (MHU) has an electronic or computerised healthcare modality system such as an X-ray, MRI, ultrasound or CT system. Also provided is a processing system connected to the modality system, and a data transmission system connected to the computer system. The processing system is configured to generate patient records by means of providing a workflow management system, which assigns an identifier to a patient and processes the user through data capture stages, one of which is a patient information stage and another of which is a modality capture stage. A single folder or record is generated containing information from both stages, which is stored locally and also uploaded to a remote location such as clinic 11 or the MHU office 9. Radiation shielding may be provided in the MHU and the data may be erased from the local storage system according to a predetermined condition.
