A surgical stapling apparatus, a surgical stapling loading unit and a staplecartridgeassembly are provided including a buttress releasably disposed against atissue contacting surfaceof a cartridge assembly and/or an anvil assembly, a continuous length ofsuture securing arespective surgical buttress against the respective the tissue contactingsurface, wherein thesuture extends transversely across the respective surgical buttress, and aretaining featuresecuring each suture to the respective cartridge assembly and anvil assembly.The retainingfeature may include an adhesive adhering the suture to a surface of thecartridge assembly and/oranvil assembly. The adhesive may adheres the suture to multiple locationsalong the surface ofthe cartridge assembly and/or anvil assembly.
