An analytical test element (1) for determining an analyte in a body fluidwhichcomprises a detection area (14) in which the analyte is detected, and anapplicationsite (3) at which the body fluid can be applied to the test element (1)wherein thedetection area (14) is spaced apart from the application site (3), wherein atleast someof the body fluid applied to the application site (3) passes from theapplication site (3)to the detection area (14). The test element also comprises a contaminationarea whichat least partially adjoins the application site wherein an adhesive substancepreferablypolyvinyl acetate is applied to at least part of the contamination area of thetestelement, wherein the adhesive substance adheres to the contamination area ofthe testelement and in addition is able to interact with excess body fluid applied tothe testelement in such a manner that at least some of the body fluid adheres to thetestelement such that excess applied body fluid remains in the contamination area.Theinvention concerns in particular test elements which, after use, can be storedin astorage container. In addition the invention describes the production of suchtestelements.
