Compounds that interact with the CXCR4 receptor are described. The compoundsare usefulin treating for Example, HIV infection and inflammatory conditions such asrheumatoidarthritis, as well as asthma or cancer, and are useful in methods to elevateprogenitor and stemcell counts as well as methods to elevate white blood cell counts. Compoundsof thisinvention fall within Formula (1):(see formula 1)wherein each of rings A and B is an optionally substituted 5-6 memberedmonocyclicheteroaryl； ring C is a saturated or partially saturated, optionallysubstituted ring of 5-8members； Y is H, or an optionally substituted C1-6 alkyl containing one ormore heteroatomsor cyclic moiety； L is (CR3 2)1 or NR(CR3 2)1 wherein an alkyl bond may bereplaced with analkenyl or alkynyl bond and each R3 is H or alkyl； 1 is 1-6； and R1 and R2 areindependentlyH or a non-interfering substituent.
