An injectable composition, suitable for parenteral administration, for use as a detoxifying agent, comprising (a) 1 to 10% wt of a hydrolyzate obtained from bioresources selected from the group comprising bivalve molluscs, crustaceans, annelids and leeches and (b) water. The composition finds particular use in the treatment of piroplasmosis caused by infection with Babesia parasites.
