The aim of the invention is to provide a needle for piercing a membrane, which prevents tearing of the membrane, contamination of the liquid when the membrane is pierced and which improves the usability of the membrane for repeated piercing. To achieve this aim, according to the invention: • the outer diameter (16) of the needle tube (8) equates to 60 to 70 percent of the length (Lg) of the tapering end (2), • the length (Lf) of the faceted cuts (6,7) is longer than 50 percent of the total length (Lg) of the tapering end (2), • the outer edges (9,10) of the faceted cuts (6,7) are sharp-edged and the inner edges are (11, 12) burr-free, • the pointed tip (3) is in a region lying on the vertical (13) that runs upwards from the longitudinal axis (14) of the needle tube (8) and that has a length (Lv) of 30 percent of the inner diameter (15) of the needle tube (8).
