An implantable drug-releasing medical device (10), as seen in Figure 4A,fabricated of a metallic or pseudometallic film is disclosed.The metallic orpseudometallic film being made of biocompatible material having a plurality ofmicropeferations (20) which pass through the film in a pattern that impartsfabric-like qualities to the device and/or permits the geometric deformationof the medical device. The implantable medical device is preferably fabricatedby vacuum deposition of metallic and/or pseudometallic materials into eithersingle or multi-layered structures with the plurality of microperferationseither being formed during deposition or after deposition by selective removalof sections of the deposited film. The implantable medical device is suitablefor use as endoluminal or surgical grafts and may be used, for example, asvascular grafts, stent grafts, skin grafts, shunts, bone grafts, surgicalpatches, non-vascular conduits, valvular leaflets, filters, occlusionmembranes, artificial sphincters, tendons and ligaments.
