PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus effectively preventing the degradation of image quality of an MRI image due to the swing of a magnetostatic field magnet.SOLUTION: The magnetic resonance imaging apparatus includes: a magnetostatic field magnet provided with superconducting coils stop determination means 43 determining whether the operation stop of a freezing machine cooling the inside of the magnetostatic field magnet is allowed or not on the basis of a measured temperature in the magnetostatic field magnet or estimated information on the temperature and freezing machine control means 45 instructing the freezing machine to stop operation when the stop determination means 43 determines to allow the operation stop of the freezing machine.
