A tool assembly for a surgical device includes a first jaw member defining afirsttissue contact surface and a second jaw member defining a second tissuecontact surface. Thefirst jaw member and the second jaw member are movable in relation to eachother betweenopen and closed positions wherein, in the closed position, the first andsecond tissue contactsurfaces are spaced apart from each other and define a tissue gap. Acompressible material issecured to a distal end of the first jaw member. The compressible materialengages thesecond jaw member when the first and second jaw members are in the closedposition. Asurgical device includes the aforementioned tool assembly. A kit includes thecompressiblematerial secured on a tool assembly of a surgical device. A method ofmanufacturing the toolassembly and securing the compressible material is disclosed.
