PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cancer stem cell marker and uses thereof.SOLUTION: The present invention inter alia pertains to therapeutic methods which are based on the use of an agent specifically binding a tumor-associated carbohydrate antigen for the treatment of cancer stem cells and related diseases. Also provided are diagnostic and prognostic methods using a tumor-associated carbohydrate antigen as a marker for cancer stem cells. According to a first aspect of the present invention, a binding agent is provided which specifically binds a tumor-associated carbohydrate antigen for use in the treatment of cancer stem cells expressing the tumor-associated carbohydrate antigen.
