PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for dusting a food, by which a powdery material is forcibly applied to the front and back ends of the food to be dusted, and to provide an apparatus therefor.SOLUTION: There are provided the method for dusting the food, by which the powdery material P is applied to the food W to be dusted, during the conveyance of the food W to be dusted and the powdery material P with a conveyer 12, and the apparatus 10 therefor. A high speed conveyer 13 arranged on the upstream side of a conveyance direction and a low speed conveyer 17 connected to the downstream side and operated at a lower speed than the high speed conveyer 13 are prepared. The plurality of foods W to be dusted are conveyed with the high speed conveyer 13 at a distance of D1 in the conveyance direction, and conveyed to the low speed conveyer 17 in a state that spaces S1 between the foods to be dusted and the foods to be dusted are filled with the powdery material P. The foods W to be dusted and the powdery material P conveyed with the high speed conveyer 13 are transferred to the low speed conveyer and conveyed.
