PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compensation of a fluorescence filter spectrum.SOLUTION: A device 10 provides incident light on oral structures 12, switchably between two states. In a first state, the incident light causes autofluorescence of byproducts of decay, and an optical filter 22 between the oral structures and either a user's eyes 30 or a visualizing apparatus yields visually distinguishable appearances for that autofluorescence depending on whether the tissue is healthy or unhealthy.
