When there are a plurality of types of medical image processing programs, it is possible to calculate a recommended value of a parameter required for each of the image processing programs from volume data to be processed and represent the value. In advance, two tables are prepared: an identification portion definition table (40) containing a necessary portion, a portion definition, and an identification algorithm corresponding to each of the image processing programs； and a parameter calculation table containing each of the programs, necessary portions, and necessary parameters. By referencing the tables, a portion corresponding to the volume data is identified in a form appropriate for each image processing program and a recommended value of the parameter is calculated and presented according to the identification.
