PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for sterilizing an instrument using microwave, even when heating water-containing gel of a water-absorbing resin along with the instrument by the microwave, preventing water from bumping, and from breaking or fouling the instrument, and preventing the water-containing gel from being stuck to the instrument, and a material for use in the method.SOLUTION: The method for sterilizing an instrument using microwave includes: storing water-containing gel of a water-absorbing resin in a heat-resistant and closed container along with an instrument inserting the container in the microwave and heating it.
