An evaporative cooling fabric that can be fashioned into garments and accessories. The cooling fabric has a multi-layer design, which includes superabsorbent material configured to increase the water absorbing capacity of the fabric. The superabsorbent material includes a highly tangled, fibrous matrix including both hydrophilic and hydrophobic fibers. The evaporative cooling fabric provides structural integrity, which increases its useful life, improves temperature regulating performance, and makes it durable enough to withstand multiple machine washes.
