A composite implant comprising: a tissue strengthening film having a first major surface and a second major surface; an orientation mark located over the first major surface of the tissue strengthening film; an absorbable film located over the orientation mark and the first major surface of the tissue strengthening film, wherein the orientation mark is laminated between said absorbable film and the first major surface of said tissue strengthening film. The composite implant of claim 1, wherein the tissue strengthening film is a surgical mesh with pores between said first and second major surfaces. The composite implant of claim 2, wherein said surgical mesh comprises an anisotropic material capable of being more stretched along the first axis and less stretched along a second axis intersecting the first axis. The composite implant of claim 3, wherein said orientation mark is extended along the first axis. The composite implant of claim 1, further comprising a second absorbable film disposed over the second major surface of the tissue strengthening film, the second absorbable film being laminated to the tissue strengthening film and the first absorbable film. The composite implant of claim 5, wherein said first and second absorbable films have antiadhesive properties, and wherein at least one of said first and second absorbable films is transparent.
