FIELD: biotechnology.SUBSTANCE: invention discloses a method for visually determining a site of origin of urine odor formation and the intensity of urine odor, methods of screening for water-absorbing polymer or elements having an effect of inhibiting formation of urine odor, absorbent article, a method of screening for urine odor formation inhibitor for the absorbent article. Liquid preparation containing reagent, detecting β-glucuronidation activity, or reagent, detecting arylsulfatase activity, as well as a microorganism or enzyme on a product-absorbent or water-absorbing polymer of the absorbent article. Reagent affects as an enzyme substrate and produces a poorly-water-soluble fluorescent pigment compound. Microorganism is selected from a strain with β-glucuronidation activity and strain with arylsulfatase activity. Enzyme is selected from β-glucuronidase and arylsulfatase. Region in which the color is changed is determined as a site of origin of urine odor formation. Amount of change in color before and after the enzymatic reaction is assigned to the intensity of urine odor.
