A surgical instrument (1310) comprises a transducer (1314) configured to produce vibrations and an end effector (1350) mounted to said transducer. The transducer comprises at least one piezoelectric element and a transducer housing (1316) at least partially surrounding the at least one piezoelectric element. The transducer is configured to produce a standing wave of vibrations in the transducer and the end effector, wherein said standing wave comprises a node and an anti-node. The surgical instrument further comprises an end effector housing (1341) at least partially surrounding the end effector. The end effector housing is mounted to said end effector at said node and the transducer housing is mounted to the end effector housing.
