Fluid transfer device and method that allows for sterilewet connections, allows the connection to be reversed, andallows the connection to be reconnected, while leaving theconnectors sterile and reusable under pressure. Incertainembodiments, the device includes a first member and a secondmember, the latter adapted to receive the former in lockingengagement upon actuation of the device to create fluidcommunication between the two in a sterile manner. Each of themembers include a door that when opened, allows the firstmember to be linearly displaced into the second member toallow fluid to be transferred. Whenfluid transfer iscomplete, the first member can be retracted from the secondmember, and the doors closed.
