A sensor system for use in an irrigation system having a plurality of towers arranged to move in parts of the field, a plurality of spans, each of which extends between adjacent towers and connected with them, and a liquid delivery system attached to spans or integrated with them to supplying water to the field, wherein the sensor system includes: a plurality of solid-state transmitters, each of which is adapted to rigidly fixing at least one of the spans or towers, each of which is configured to measure at least one of acceleration, angular acceleration, angular velocity, the direction and the angle with respect to a predetermined reference direction, the solid state transducers include at least one of a digital compass, a solid state gyro, solid accelerometers, and inertial measurement unit (IMU) isistemu control configured to receive measurements from each of the solid-state transmitters, and calculating at least one of the orientation and location of the angular position of at least one of proletov.2.
