The vertical planter comprising a frame (1), a plurality of support planes (2； 2a, 2b, 2c) each having a support surface (15) for supporting at least one plant, wherein said plurality support planes (2； 2a, 2b, 2c) are supported by the frame (1) and a nutrient supply system (3) including a nutrient distribution means (4) for delivering liquid nutrient (48) to the support surface (15) of a uppermost support plane (2a), a nutrient conducting arrangement (5) for conducting liquid nutrient (48) from said uppermost support plane (2a) to a lowermost support plane (2b) via the support surface (15) of intermediate support planes (2c), and nutrient receiving means (6) for receiving liquid nutrient (48) from the support surface (15) said lowermost support plane (2b).
