The device has a table (10) in which trough (12) is inserted. A slider (14) is movable on the table between an inlaying position and a transfer position, in which a product (16) is dropped into the trough. A closing plate (32) is arranged between the table and the sliders. The closing plate is conveyed in a prompt manner from a closing position into an opening position, when the slider is found in the transfer position, where the closing plate covers the trough in the closing position. A drive (34) i.e. pneumatic cylinder, controls movement of the closing plate relative to the table.
