The implant (2) has a hemispherical shaped plastic cup (3) for attachment to acetabulum, where the cup defines a hemispherical cavity (4) that is intended to be articulated to a prosthetic femoral head. The cup includes a bone-anchoring unit (6) on its outer surface. An entire surface of the cup intended to be in contact with a hip bone is coated with osteoconductive metal. The coating has thickness ranging between 15 and 50 microns.
