A prosthetic or orthotic housing 100 comprising a cylinder 120 to receive a piston, a pump mounting section 140 to receive a pump, and fluid channels 153 connecting the pump and cylinder. The housing is formed of a unitary construction that may be produced by additive methods. The housing may have one or more apertures to receive valves, such as adjustable orifice or check valves, to control fluid flow through the channels. A switch such as a solenoid may be operably coupled to one or more fluid passages to switch the housing between first and second modes of operation. The pump may be a gear pump with two gears received in the housing and the rest of the pump mounted thereto.
