The present invention relates to a medical instrument (1) for generating projection images of the inside of a target and a method thereof. The medical instrument includes two different medical image systems (2, 3), a patient support table (4), and moving mechanisms (8, 9, 10, 11). The moving mechanisms (8, 9, 10, 11) are appropriate for moving the two image systems (2, 3) towards the patient support table (4) and/or towards each other together or individually. Each of the image systems (2, 3) includes a detector (14) and an X-ray source (13).
